I would not have taken it as you have. The fact remains that they are a minority in Europe and thus it would be beneficial for both the majority and minority to better understand one other — not only for harmonious integration, but provision of goods and services.
For example — by understanding the wants and needs of a muslim minority, businesses in Europe can start to better cater for them such as offering halal products; or celebrating Eid in the office, making colleagues aware of Ramadan, and what not.
So long as the exercise was not seeking to drive some sort of anti-immigration agenda, it sounds like a reasonable exercise to me?
