Archimedes is a great one! The fact he was not a military man and more an inventor gives him a different flavour to some of the others.
Thanks for calling out the misuse of annihilation. I have clarified the sentence to refer specifically to the Hungarian army. Though technically even with that caveat - there was likely at least some survivors...so I use it as hyperbole (which hopefully you can forgive).
