GST is a great idea – while regressive, proceeds of the tax could be transferred back to those on lower incomes through other types of payments or services.

There is a challenge though around distribution of GST revenue from larger contributors to lesser ones.

Some states like California might only get a return of 80 cents from the government for every dollar collected, whereas other states like Wyoming might receive $1.20 in funds for every dollar they collect.
