Hi Frederick,

I don't think removing the statues pave the way for them to re-appear for two reasons:

1) These statues are built with the intent of honouring and glorifying the villains - not to serve as a reminder for us.

After all - how many statues do we have of people like Benedict Arnold, Hitler, or convicted serial killers?

2) We don't need statues to remind us of them. Certainly not statues glorifying them. There are history books, movies, remembrance days and a myriad of other ways for us to not forget.
