If conservatives stopped ending universities — they would start to be underrepresented in white collar work which in turn is often associated with higher incomes.

The now enlarged class of working class conservatives may see:

• them shift left on the political spectrum (social justice initiatives tend to favour them),
• reduced amounts of capital behind thrown behind conservative movements (due to reduced incomes from their constituents)

Without a strong conservative counter balance, progressive ideology will drift further left unabated
