While there is often a long lead time to establish a new plant, but SME reactors could help bring down both cost and speed of doing so.

Further - though plants are expensive to build, they are relatively cheap to run.

I agree that wind and solar will be the primary part of the mix - but am unconvinced that they will be able to meet all our various use cases within the timelines needed to avert a climate catastrophe.

You make a good point about electric furnaces for US steel making.
