The US is very clearly a power in decline.

I doubt the US will be able to maintain/reclaim its pre-eminence (America has let others climb too far up the tree whilst still having decades of restructuring to do at home before being able to reclaim their spot)…however they may be able to avoid a Soviet-style collapse and fragmentation into multiple other republics.
